Logistics Manager

Job Description: The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring all ZAMURA products—both inbound and outbound, international and domestic--are delivered to the customer in a timely, cost-effective way. This role will also be responsible for planning routes, maintenance of Zamura vehicles, and backhaul loads to maximize the efficiency of our logistics department.
Reports to: ZAMURA Managing Director (MD)
Location: Musanze
Supervises: Transportation Scheduler, Dispatcher, Drivers, Mechanics
Works with-Internal: MD of Zamura, Live Production, Farms, Feed mill, Processing, Maintenance, QA, Sales and Accounting TEAMS
Relates with-External: Customers, Mechanics, Vendors, Government, Law Enforcement, and community leaders
Summary of Key Job Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with Operations and Sales teams to Schedule deliveries on time and manage drivers' work rotations ensuring that it allows them to rest and stay fit for the job,
>> Ensure that weekly movements of all products are planned a week in advance and are aligned with Zamura logistics KPIs, while adhering to harvesting and delivery guidelines,
>> Work with QA to execute and report that cold chain management guidelines are adhered to,
>>Work with Accounting to execute and report that all inventory management guidelines during transportation are adhered to,
>>Ensure transportation team complies with all sales, accounting, and QA tracking and documentation procedures,
2. Reduce Maintenance and Fuel Costs/km and /kg,
>> Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan,
>> Work with Zamura’s network of trusted maintenance providers around the country to conduct regular preventative maintenance checks to keep vehicles on the road,
>> Work with Zamura’s mechanics resolve breakdowns en route,
>> Develop and maintain driver inspection records of every vehicle,
>> Evaluate and report effectiveness of maintenance plans, mechanics performance, route planning, driver behavior, payloads per vehicle, and vehicle lifespan,
3. Comply with all vehicle guidelines in Rwanda and keep a record of documents expiration dates for timely renewals,
>> Ensure all loads are accompanied by proper documentation,
>> Work with Sales, Accounting, QA, and your drivers to ensure all Zamura policies and procedures are executed in accordance with the laws of Rwanda,
>> Remain literate in laws and policies impacting ZAMURA transportation logistics, engaged in policy making on ZAMURA’s behalf, and proactive in creating systems and processes to ensure ZAMURA is always compliant with regulatory bodies/procedures,
4. Assist ZAMURA in any sales and transfer of vehicles,
5. Work with sales team to negotiate delivery contracts/agreements to ensure beneficial pricing and timing for the Company and Customer,
6. Manage third party logistics providers (3PL) through contracting, penalties and incentive schemes to ensure reliable and timely delivery of goods,
7. Develop Driver policies and safety trainings to protect ZAMURA assets and TEAM Members' health and safety,
>> Ensure that drivers track all movements and hours to comply with Zamura HR and safety policies,
8. Develop and maintain third party transporter database,
>> Manage third party logistics providers (3PL) through contracting, penalties and incentive schemes to ensure reliable and timely delivery of goods,
9. Develop and maintain working relationships with stakeholders (e.g., law enforcement, RURA, Gas stations, etc…) that keep company vehicles on the road,
10. Comply with all ZAMURA policies,
11. All other tasks as assigned.
Skills/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, or relevant field
A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry
Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software
Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
